Position Description: STAFF ATTORNEYS HOUSING STABILITY PROJECT Rhode Island Legal Services, Inc., a statewide program with its principal office in Providence, seeks two staff attorneys to work in its Housing Stability Project (HSP), a Project of the RILS Housing Law Center dedicated to eviction defense, preventing homelessness and assisting those facing housing insecurity. Responsibilities include representation of eligible individuals and families who are being evicted or at imminent risk of homelessness and who are facing eviction proceedings; frequent court appearances; participate in educational forums and with community groups related to housing law; collaborate with community agencies and groups addressing issues of homelessness; develop familiarity with other areas of poverty law that are relevant to housing law practice. Requirements for Hiring: Qualifications: Admitted to the Rhode Island Bar, the bar of any state or a graduate of a law school accredited and approved by the American Bar Association and the Board of Bar Examiners and a willingness to take the next Rhode Island Bar examination.
Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience
