Position Description: Rhode Island Legal Services, Inc., a statewide program with its principal office in Providence, seeks one staff attorney to work in its Housing Stability Project (HSP), a Project of the RILS Housing Law Center dedicated to eviction defense, preventing homelessness, and assisting those facing housing insecurity. Responsibilities include Representation of eligible Individuals and families who are being evicted or at imminent risk of homelessness and who are facing court eviction proceedings; frequent court appearances; participate in educational forums and with community groups related to housing law; collaborate with community agencies and groups addressing issues of homelessness; develop familiarity with other areas of poverty law that are relevant to housing law practice. Salary: 60K to 100K Commensurate with relevant legal experience in accordance with Union Contract. Requirements for Hiring: Qualifications: Admission to Rhode Island Bar or Bar of any other state required; Candidates admitted to Bar of another state must be willing to take the next Rhode Island Bar exam. Spanish speaking ability preferred.
